BOGUS TEXT MESSAGES

Patients in Northern Ireland have received text messages indicating that their registration with their Doctors' Practice was about to lapse and they should ring the number provided. This is a fraud designed to obtain personal details.

BOGUS TELEPHONE CALLS

Patients throughout Northern Ireland are receiving telephone calls purporting to be from their own health centre enquiring about patient medication and offering medication at a discounted rate. As you know, prescription medication is free. This is a fraud and these people are after your bank details. If contacted in this way report immediately to your local police.

              Bowel Cancer Screening Video

Bowel Cancer Screening - All eligible participants must be between the ages of 60-74 years and registered with a GP in Northern Ireland. Participants will automatically receive a kit in the post when they reach the set age. They will, at this point, be invited to participate in the screening programme.

A new video that shows women what to expect when they attend for breast screening has been produced by the Public Health Agency.

It covers the whole process of screening - from receiving the invitation letter to getting the results.

Do you know someone whose family has a history of abdominal aortic aneurysm- a swelling of the main artery which lies in the abdomen? If you are a man over the age of 65 and you haven't attended for screening before you can now self refer for a scan. Ring 028 90631828 to book a scan.

Home Visits

Doctor's bagWhilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10:00.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.  In some cases examination and tests can only be done in the surgery and you will be advised to attend the surgery instead. With some serious conditions the GP may decide you would be best going straight to hospital for tests and treatment. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to decide how quickly and where you will be best seen.

You can also be visited at home by a district nurse if you are referred by your GP. You will also be visited at home by a midwife if you have recently had a baby.
